BIOGRAPHY
“I didn’t choose to document this by chance, my love for Madinah runs deep” - MA
Since 2013, Saudi Photographer Moath Al Ofi has been documenting the changing landscape of the holy city of Al Madinah. To Moath, the holy city is both his studio and an open museum, and has embarked on a photographic journey to explore the fast expanding holy city; documenting its urban, architectural, human and cultural transformations within its borders and its forgotten villages and barren terrain surrounding the city.
Moath Alofi was born in 1984 in Medina where he currently lives and works. He holds a BA in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development from Bond University, Gold Coast, Australia. Moath is the founder of Almthba: an interdisciplinary studio focusing on the region of Medina by promoting art and assisting researchers.
Moath presented his solo exhibition, Doors of Barlik, Athr, Jeddah [2016].
